For The Moment…42

In my haste, I am cut off from before his eyes.

Nevertheless, I believed, and the Lord heard my cries, and He saved me.

Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all who hope in the Lord. ( adapted from Psalm 31 verse 22 and 24)

The Psalmist David writing this work was a fugitive running from King Saul. David was to be king, but he was hiding  in caves away from a man who was jealous of him and sought to kill him. This psalm is one of lament, a prayer for help, while  at the same time, it declares the goodness of Jehovah as the source of all blessings in times of trouble. David’s unwavering trust and belief in Jehovah is seen in the words of this Psalm 31.

The Lord is your hope when all other paths fail. He is your deliverer when you have no one to turn to and no place to run. He is always there to pick you up and keep you safe if you trust, obey, and believe in him.

I like my country, is that good enough?

Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?

Patriotic? Like loyal, devoted in support of the country where I live? That kind of attitude is something I have never thought about.

I like where I live. I know no other country. It has good and bad features. It is not perfect. I enjoy the freedom I have to worship my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and I do not take it for granted. Many other Christians in other parts of the world do not have this privilege, and I thank God daily for this freedom I have.

I enjoy the ability to go to sleep without fear and wake up safe to face the day.

But this country I live in is made up of people and people make the country. Politicians rule and many things they do I do not agree with. Some laws are good and some not so good, but this is where the Lord wants me to be, and  for the moment, I will trust him.

I know I am blessed, and I do not take that lightly.

Speeding

Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

I am not the best driver, but when I get comfortable behind the wheel and the road is clear and easy to plot, I tend to step on the gas a little too hard.

Speeding happens, but it is bad when you go over the limit in a school zone or residential area. That I don’t do because kids could be playing and people could be out and about.

I try hard not to speed, too much.

Thinking Before

If there was a biography about you, what would the title be?

I think too much that I can think my way out of stuff. I am not spontaneous, probably because the few times I succumbed to the habit, I got burned.

Nevertheless, there are times I would love to just take the plunge and see what happens. Alas, I know I wouldn’t. I will just keep standing on the sidelines quaking in my Jimmy Choos.

P.S. Do I even own a Jimmy Choo? Better check on that.

For The Moment…41

Many waters can not quench Love, and neither can the floods drown it. If a man would give all that he had for love, it would be utterly condemned. ( Song of Solomon 8 verse 7.)

True love can never be wiped out and it can never be bought.

Love stands eternal.

God is love.

My parents were living…

What were your parents doing at your age?

Parents are there to guide, nurture, discipline, protect, provide, and love their children. At my age, they were doing all this while wadding through the murky waters of immigration.

They learned.

They adapted.

They loved their new country even though they gave up a lot. They were satisfied and didn’t miss what they left behind.

They prayed daily and gave thanks for the Lord’s provisions of safety  and health.

For The Moment…40

If we believe not, he abides faithful. He can not deny himself.

He remains faithful even when we are not. He will never fail his people, those he loves and are called by his name.

God is not a man that he shall lie.

( 2 Timothy 2 verse 13 and Numbers 23 verse 19)

Equal work for equal value

If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

They are unwritten laws that state that if you are not of the same look or sex then the work you do will not amount to the same pay as that other person.

For example: if I am a black female or male  or a South East Asian male or female or Asian female or male and I have a colleague who is doing the same job and who is white male or female in a very white dominated company, that person will get better pay and receive more accolades which can lead to a future promotion.

It is no one’s fault but the powers in charge.

Nevertheless, it is what happens on a regular basis where you have to work twice as hard to get only get half.

It does not matter if you are male or female or BIPOC. You just have to work harder to get what you deserve in any work sector.

Will this stop?

No. It will continue. It is how the world is made. You just have to continue to do the best you can.

For The Moment…39

Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. ( Mark 11 verse 24.)

Believe for what you pray. Pray with all sincerity.

My dream home is a place where I am loved and feel safe.

Write about your dream home.

It is a place where I am loved. A place where those who care about me are with me physically and in my memory.

A home is where I can call on the Lord in freedom and sincerity. A place where I can service the Lord.

My dream home is where I can dwell in safety and breathe a sigh of relief when I close  the door on the outside world as if barring all the hurt and the pain of the day.
