Who is God?

For The Moment#124

Who is God?

When we think about God, what do we know?

We know his works, all the things he does and have done.

We think about his character.

We think about where he is now?

Sure, this is all fine, but who is God to me personally?

How do I know him?

Do I trust him?

Do I love him in all sincerity, or is it for what I can get?

These are questions that might challenge us all as children of God.

Our challenge for the rest of the year is to look to God and establish a deep relationship with him.

Everyday…

How often do you walk or run?

I am active.

I thank God that I have mobility, so there is no problem with movement.

I work with some people who have problems walking or running, and every night, I give God thanks that I am able to move on my own.

I have learned never to even take the simplest of things like movement for granted.

Keep moving.

Not at all but there are times

Do you see yourself as a leader?

I am not a leader, and frankly, I don’t want to be one. I enjoy sitting back and having others take the reins, but lately, it does not seem to be happening my way

Out of the need to complete a task or to make a decision, I end up doing the deed and taking the lead.

Most people hate making the hard decisions, I don’t really care. If it has to be done, then I do it.

That’s leadership?

If that is a part of it, then I may be, but I don’t want to be.

For The Moment…123

The faithfulness of God is a curious thing. We will never understand it. We will never wear it out.

He remains faithful while we fall away; such is his love towards us. We have nothing to fear because there is nothing that can separate us from his love.

If we abide not, yet he remains faithful; he can not deny himself.

2 Timothy 2 verse 13.

Amen

What’s your favorite word?

Meaning, so be it.

This word is powerful.

It is a precursor of faith, believing without seeing. At the end of my prayers, it is my agreement with God.

If trust Him, and he will work for me. Imagine the God of the Universe is working for me. How amazing is that?

If I agree and  believe, then I will receive. So let it be.

Amen.

Going to bed…alone

What are you doing this evening?

After a long, hard day at work, all I want to do is crash into my bed.

I need to sleep more so I can wake refreshed. I get very little of that golden star dust called sleep. Tonight, I want to make up on my loss and go to bed early.

Glorious.

Alas, I will not be alone. My dogs love to give me company and hog the bed. Most nights, I sleep half on and half off.

Not tonight. The bed is mine…

For The Moment…122

Nothing hits God by surprise. He knows the end from the beginning. We are like grasshoppers before him , yet he has compassion towards us. His loving kindness is for now and forever.

When we feel afraid, thrown into the deep without a life jacket, we must remember he is the rock of our salvation.

Fear not just whisper his name. He is the Deliver.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

Psalm 123 verse 2

Noseyness leads to malicious behavior.

What personality trait in people raises a red flag with you?

I am a very private person, I tell what I don’t mind others knowing. But when I meet someone for the first time or when I work with someone I am not too keen on, don’t ask me personal questions.

How old are you?

Where do you live?

Are you married?

Why not? Are you too old? Don’t you want kids?

(Not at this very second, thank you very much.)

I step back worried that the next question might be, how much money do you have saved for retirement? I wonder if they moonlight as an investment consultant looking to drum up business.

If I feel comfortable, which I never do, I will volunteer the information.

Transparency is one thing but only on my terms. I allows feel the more people poke around my life is, the more they are gathering  information that may come back to haunt me. Besides, I feel so exposed when speaking about myself.

Maybe I should be in therapy. Then again, maybe not. I will have to talk about my feelings. Yikes!!!!

I have trust issues.

For The Moment…121

We should not limit God. He is the same God who called into existence those things that did not exist.

There is no limit to his power and no measuring his love.

When we ask, we need to sit back and let him take control. He will do great things and different things you never thought about.

He is infinite.

Call unto me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.  The Lord is his name.

Adapted from Jeremiah 33 3 and 2 b.

For The Moment…120

I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord. Psalm 122 verse 1.

It is a privilege, even an honor, to be able to worship the Lord. If we have the opportunity to meet with others and be together to sing unto the Lord and give thanks to him, that, too, is a blessing.

We don’t have to wait for the Lord’s day, but we have that grace to approach him at all times.

Let us never squander this freedom, this blessing, but let us do it to please our God.
