Day 4 of May What’s in a Name…

We name people or things to give them value or to put them in a category. Sometimes a given name is chosen on a lark or because of some significance. A name is how we are called and gives the owner of that name meaning.  

The God of the old testament has a name, Jehovah or Yahweh, Yehowah which is a hybrid form from Latin letters JHVH with the vowels of Adonai.  Adonai in Hebrew means God is my Lord. 

 This month of May is a new beginning where we will in this blog discuss and learn more about God, in so doing our relationship with him and understanding him will grow. And therefore, the more we read about him, the more our hearts yearn for him, to be close to him.  

And the Angel of the Lord said unto him, “Why ask thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret.” Judges 13:18

Christ died for us

Day 3 of May – Jesus loves me

May is a month of rebirth.

 It is also the fifth month of the Julian and Gregorian calendars.

The season before summer.

In the Bible, five stands for God’s grace.  The unmerited favour of God towards the human race.

We are not deserving of his love and kindness, nevertheless God so loved the world that he gave his only son. 

Jesus loves me this I know. 

But God commended his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5 verse 8

Worship is Holy name

Day 2 of May – Hallelujah Christ has conquered.

The Overcomer of death, hell and the enemy;

Christ our redeemer, our Creator.

In the garden this plan was made for us, made for me.

He came from the palace of his glory,

Born of a woman and placed in a lowly manger;

God became man to understand what it means to obey.

For us all, such love cannot be greater.

He endured the agony of his soul but now is risen, glorified,

Seated at the father’s right hand, he is become the victor.

The only true One, who is called blessed.

Come, worship his Holy name.

A name above all, deserving of honour, adoration and praise.

The Grace of God is Eternal

He cannot deny himself

Trust in the Lord

The Park

Trust and don’t be afraid.

He promised to always be there, never to leave nor turn away.

Take his hand and he will guide.

Ask of him can he not provide?

When we call his name, he answers every cry.

The closer we are, the closer he stays.

He is touched by the beating of our hearts,

By the breathing of our spirit.

Captivated by the brightness of our souls, he looked upon us and his compassion was stirred.   

Who is he that he should love us?

Who is he that he cannot deny himself? 

He is master.

He is Lord.

He is God.

Trust in the Lord and lean not unto your own understanding. Proverbs 3 verse 3

He is Our Father…

God said, “I will gather them together from all the corners of the earth.

Nations, kindred, people from generation to generation, those who are great with a future and those who have nothing.

The sick, lame and blind, will they all come.

They will gather by the waters for rest and for refreshment,

Where does it all go?

When time ends would there be an answer?

Would there be a second chance? 

Time slips by and nothing changes.

The future is a whisper of a promise. 

Delicate.

Invisible.

Possible. 

But today is now. 

It is what it can be.

And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear Not; thou shalt have this son (child) also. Genesis 35 verse 17

The first and the last my eternal Hope

When There is Pain, There is Help

When promises are broken and my sorrow reaches higher than my joy.

There is One who knows my pain.

He knows my needs.

He knows my name; 

And hears my cries.  

He is my help.  

My King, my Lord of lords.

The first and the last; my eternal Hope.

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

God will never forget the needy, the hope of the afflicted will never perish.

He who promised is faithful.

We learn something new…

It is good to learn something new everyday.

With knowledge comes understanding;

Understanding is the key to power;

Power that builds self and confidence;

And that opens a door to a high tower.

A prospect bright with endless possibilities and favour.

Bursting with the awareness of knowledge.

With knowledge there is power.

And with power there is wisdom.

Whoso loves instruction loves knowledge; but he that hates reproof is brutish.
