Who is God?

Bad Things Happen to Good People

Where is God?

Let’s start from the beginning, but not in Genesis of the Bible.

The first challenge is to ask who God is to you personally.

As a child, I was taught right and wrong. My parents were God-fearing and very loving, wanting the best for me and my sisters.

From the beginning, I’ve seen God as the judge first. If I do something wrong that will displease God, then I will be punished.

This all kept me in line, but as time moved on and I grew older, I learned he is a God of love and compassion.

However, as the saying goes, bad things happen to good people.

Life throws cruel curves, and sometimes, it is hard to understand the loss of a loved one, the financial ruin, the loss of employment, poor health, and so many other disappointments.

We cry out to God, and nothing happens. Every morning, we wake up, and everything remains the same.

God does not tempt us.

God can not be tempted with evil, neither does he tempt any man. (James 1 verse 13)

God is holy and can not look at sin. Therefore, nothing good will he hold back from you. (Psalm 84 verse 11)

So are our problems made by our own hands?

Sometimes, we sow our own seeds and fall into our own traps, but other times, bad things do happen.

Then the question on our lips is, where is God?

To answer that question, we need to do a deep drive on who God is and look at his character.

What are the qualities distinctive to him and to him alone?

We need to look at his behavior, his actions, and his reactions and to look at what he says.

Then, we will begin to understand a little about God.

How do you see God personally.

Is he far away, or is he close by?

Let’s be honest and think about this answer as a child of God.

Let’s look at God from the beginning…

Who is God?

For The Moment#124

Who is God?

When we think about God, what do we know?

We know his works, all the things he does and have done.

We think about his character.

We think about where he is now?

Sure, this is all fine, but who is God to me personally?

How do I know him?

Do I trust him?

Do I love him in all sincerity, or is it for what I can get?

These are questions that might challenge us all as children of God.

Our challenge for the rest of the year is to look to God and establish a deep relationship with him.

For The Moment…122

Nothing hits God by surprise. He knows the end from the beginning. We are like grasshoppers before him , yet he has compassion towards us. His loving kindness is for now and forever.

When we feel afraid, thrown into the deep without a life jacket, we must remember he is the rock of our salvation.

Fear not just whisper his name. He is the Deliver.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

Psalm 123 verse 2

For The Moment…121

We should not limit God. He is the same God who called into existence those things that did not exist.

There is no limit to his power and no measuring his love.

When we ask, we need to sit back and let him take control. He will do great things and different things you never thought about.

He is infinite.

Call unto me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.  The Lord is his name.

Adapted from Jeremiah 33 3 and 2 b.

For The Moment…120

I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord. Psalm 122 verse 1.

It is a privilege, even an honor, to be able to worship the Lord. If we have the opportunity to meet with others and be together to sing unto the Lord and give thanks to him, that, too, is a blessing.

We don’t have to wait for the Lord’s day, but we have that grace to approach him at all times.

Let us never squander this freedom, this blessing, but let us do it to please our God.

For The Moment…119

The summer is ending, and it is back to school time. Change is something that can not be stopped.

Change happens in every aspect of life. Sometimes it is hard to accept newness or the difference of things, but if I want to continue to exist in this diverse world, I am learning I have to accept things and try to make them my own.

God helps me with this. I sometimes have not sown the seeds of change, and my harvest is, at times, not what I want, but God sees me through. He can change things to work out for my blessing.

All he asks is for me to believe and trust in him.

I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from there comes my help. Adapted from Psalm 121 verse 1.

For The Moment…118

My God is merciful and kind.

He has not dealt with us after our sins.

Thank the Lord, or we will be punished as the day is long.

Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

He does not treat us like we treat others for their misdeeds. He does not think like us, and I thank him for that.

If he were to think like us, then there would never be mercy for those who misstep.

There would never be kindness for the weak who mess up on a regular basis.

There would never be love for those who need a shoulder to lean on.

My God is not like us. He is not quick to condemn. He shows compassion when no one else would.

This he does for his children, for his people, to those who follow him and love him, for those who make him the Lord or their life.

Praise his name forever.

Adapted from Psalm 103 verses 10 and 11.

For The Moment 117

If God is for you, then who can be against you.

You have nothing to fear. You have nothing to worry about. He sets a path of blessing before you to walk in all peace and confidence.

If God says yes, then no one can say no.

For The Moment 116

Proving God should be easy. Society pulls us one way, saying we should be independent while the word of God tells us to put our trust in him.

We must be brave and dig deep, holding on to the edge of his garment and believe.

The edge of his garment is his word. Repeat it in your head. Say it out loud and trust him. A few words if hope gives us strength.

Prove him…

For The Moment…115

A close relationship with the Lord is key to all our needs. He is the source of all blessings , and from him flows all good.

Reading his word and praying to him puts us in a closeness where he will open up understanding and wisdom to us, thereby enabling you to make sure and good decisions.

A closeness with God keeps us safe and secure. We learn to trust Him no matter the circumstance.

He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91 verse 1.
