Pray without ceasing

Prayer Warriors: Hold the Line

Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Don’t stop.

Never give up, hold the line.

Pray without ceasing and standfast in the faith.

Though situations seem dyer where there are no alterations, no changes.

It matters not.  A good warrior must keep moving forward, keep pressing onward.

Have no fear, soon the clouds will part.

The path will become clear, the footing will grow smooth and solid.

Then the light of hope will break forth to blaze in the face of many adversities.

Only, hold the line.

Hold the line” is a term that comes from military tactics in which a line of troops was supposed to prevent an enemy breakthrough. – dictionary meaning

A Matter of Praying…Part 3 – Direct Connection to God

Prayer

We have a direct connection to the Creator, to the Holy Father, the God of all flesh, the One who called those things that are not into being. (Romans 4:17)

This relationship is a two-way street, where there is giving and taking.  God gives and we take.  Not one good thing would he withhold to those who walk uprightly. We cannot hoodwink God.  He knows all things, he knows the heart and every motive.  If we ask for things to only consume them in our lust, we will not receive those things. We need to remember who He is. (Psalm 84:11), (James 4:3)

As we get closer to God, the things we want seem to fall in line with his desires for us.  Sometimes, we call on him not knowing what to ask for, but being sealed with the Holy Spirit, He makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. The Spirit mingles a sweet savor to the Father who accepts our prayers with all joy, because the Father likes to hear the voices of his children.

As we read of Him in the Bible we begin to understand Him more and more.  He reveals Himself in the pages of his Word, because it is there we get a taste of his character.  As we see that He is good, we seek to please him. We want more of Him so we approach him in prayer on our knees, on our face. We humble our self knowing we are nothing before Him.  Like Moses who took off his shoes and King David who washed, shaved, and changed his clothes before coming before the true and living God, we too have this privilege and we should own it with all Reverence; giving  Him the glory, the honor that is due to him.

We are His children.

I am the Lord, I change not.

Names of the True and Living God…

El Shaddai
El translated as God (singular) and Shaddai translated as almighty. God Almighty in English or Latin Deus Omnipotens.

In Genesis 17 verse 1 God or Jehovah (YHWH) addressed Abram and called himself “I am the Almighty God: walk before me and be thou perfect.”

Then again in the book of Exodus chapter 6 verse 3, God said to Moses, “I appeared unto Abraham unto Isaac and unto Jacob by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.”
He is the same all-powerful God, yesterday, today, and forever. And out of His mouth, He says, “ I am the Lord, I change not.” Malachi 3 verse 6 and Hebrews 13 verse 8.

Jesus For Everyone, the Son of Man

The book of Luke in the new testament is the third gospel and also begins differently. Written by Luke who was a physician and possibly a Gentile, around AD 60 to 61 and some say possibly as far as AD70. Luke was not one of the original twelve disciples but was a follower of Jesus Christ.

This book as well as the book of Acts both begin with a preface addressed to Theophilus ( in Greek means friend of God). It is a record of the life and ministry of Jesus. Luke gives a detailed account of the genealogy of Jesus, unlike Matthew who gave a lineage through Joseph his earthly father, but through the virgin Mary the mother of Jesus emphasizing the important fact that he was born of a woman and was made flesh. A human body was prepared for him (Hebrews 10 verse 5), he was man, sin apart.

It was in that same body wherein he died, was in the tomb, and God well pleased with him raised him in that same body from the grave and seated him at His right hand in heaven. We can therefore say he has taken manhood into the Glory.

Luke being a gentile presents the gospel for everyone. Matthew presents Jesus as the Messiah for the Jewish race and Mark presents him as a servant, Jesus came to seek and save anyone regardless of occupation or social status. He is the savior for everyone.

Day 5 of May

Who is He?

And they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3 verse 13 and 14

There are about 300 times in the Bible mentioned “I am” beginning with Genesis 15 verse 1 and ending with Revelation 22 verse 16. Most times it gives us a small picture of God’s character. For example when God says to Abram, “I am thy shield and exceeding great reward.” In other words, God is saying he will protect you and keep you safe. He is saying he is a God of love and care. His lovingkindness is incomparable; there is no one like Him.

Is He not beautiful?

In Exodus, God introduces himself as the IAM. He announces His divine person. IAM is present continuous. He is now and forever, the first and the last, the alpha and the omega.

I continue to be what I continue to be and will be. The ever-existing One or He that is to come. From eternity past and will be in eternity.

The Need For Hope

colorful, Landscape Wallpapers HD / Desktop and Mobile ...

The need for hope lights a fire within our soul;

A burning desire that transports us from one moment to the next with the confidence of knowing our goal, our prize, our reward is closer still.

While hoping, we can never expire like that of Lot’s wife caught between the wish and longing.

No, for with hope we are always compelled to press onward, never looking back, always moving forward to a better place from whence we came.

In hope, our steps are made sure and safe;

Our hearts are made fat with strength and purpose so to withstand the fickleness of the mind.

Because Hope, the faithful companion of Confidence, can never fail;

Is never lonely;

Can never be contrite.

And never gives into despair.

“but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation works patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope; and hope makes not ashamed.” Romans 5 verses 3 and 4

#5 of 14 The Love Song

Troubadour’ Entry – Jakob Emanuel Gaisser

Love songs express the emotions felt by the writer or singer to the one they love.  One such song can be found in Song of Solomon ( 22nd book of the Bible)

Also called Canticle of canticles.  It is a song or a chant known to be written by King Solomon approximately 930 BC of the old testament Bible.  The song tells of simple love between a husband and his wife, emotionally, spiritually and physically.  Metaphorically speaking it is also a relationship between Christ and his bride, the Church.

“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” Song of Solomon 6 verse 3

his vanity is crushed under the hand of the One True and Living God.

What happens when someone defies God. – excerpt from The Vicissitudes of Life (2006)

…who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go: I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go. – Exodus 5 verse 2 KJV

In this regard, Pharaoh is a type of Satan (the enemy), who did not comprehend that there is a supreme God. In those days of history, Pharaohs were revered, believing themselves to be gods and bowed to no one. The Pharaoh in this historical account is mighty and thinks no one compares to him because of his wealth, greatness and conquests throughout the world, until his vanity is swiftly crushed under the hand of the One True and Living God.

“There is no other God beside me.” Says the Lord – adapted from the KJV
