Journey To The Resurrection.

Yet To Be # 307 – Remembered in our hearts all ways not just at Easter.

What is the significance of Palm Sunday?

It is a Christian celebration with its origin in Biblical times.

Matthew 21 verses 1 to 9 and John 12 verses 12 to 16.

And when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Zion, behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. Isaiah 62 verse 11.

Jesus traveled through the city of Jerusalem on a simple donkey. The crowds cast palm branches along his path, crying Hosanna in the highest.

Hosanna means Pray, save us.

In Biblical times a King would ride into the city on a horse as a symbol of war, but when he entered the city on a donkey, it was considered a symbol of peace.

Jesus riding on the donkey is seen as the Messiah coming to his people in peace.

He came to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19 verse 10

What about the Easter Egg?

Some Historical Facts about Easter

Hope and Faith

Easter in Christianity is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ.

This time is about his victory over death, Hell, Satan, and the grave.

His death, burial, and resurrection are all contemplated along with his life while here on earth,

The Easter egg represents new life and rebirth. Early Christians in Mesopotamia dyed eggs red to symbolize the blood of Jesus.

And Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life.” John 11 verse 25.

What Do You Think About Christ?

This is a personal question…

Yet To Be #267

When I think about Christ, I see him as my Lord and Saviour.
He is the son of God, the son of his love.
His only begotten son was with him way back in eternity before the world began.

Matthew 22 verse 42

And Jesus asked them saying, What think you of Christ? Whose son is he?

This is a personal question deserving a personal response.

Remembering Jesus and His Work

Yet To Be

Jesus said, I have glorified thee (God the father) on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gave me to do. John 17 verse 4

He came to seek and to save the lost by drawing all to himself, for in him is life.
He glorified the Father in every step of his journey on earth, even to the cross where God’s righteous demands were met and completed.

Remembering Jesus Our Mediator

there is one mediator between God and men..

Yet To be

The blood of Jesus makes atonement for sin (to make things right before God)
Without shedding blood, there could be no reconciliation with God.
Being washed in the precious blood of Jesus, we can approach the throne of grace in boldness because Jesus’ blood covers us.
God is holy, and in His presence we are seen in Christ Jesus.
God sees this coverage and passes over in judgment. There is no other access to God except through His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. It is a privilege that allows us to come into His holy presence through the largeness of His grace.

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2 verse 5

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2 verse 13.

He is the Light

He is the light that turns the wrong to right.

Yet To Be

Why hope? People need to have faith because they need hope.

There is a light that shines in the dark caverns of the mind.
Though small, even distant it is there; look for it.
Look up, and you will see it.
Jesus is that light.
If you seek him, you will find him.
He will become your strength, shield, and reward.
“He is the light that shines in the darkest night;
The Light that turns the wrong to right.”
He is that light.

Remembrance: A Request…

Yet Be Yet # 246

The Remembrance Supper

The last request from the Lord.

“This do in remembrance of me.”

This is a request not a command. The Lord does not make a demand.

It is not a rule. It is an act that should be done out of love and devotion.

Luke 22 verse 19

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

As the shepherds rejoiced and the wise men gave homage to the child, we too celebrate our Saviour, the Lord.
