Who is God?

For The Moment#124

Who is God?

When we think about God, what do we know?

We know his works, all the things he does and have done.

We think about his character.

We think about where he is now?

Sure, this is all fine, but who is God to me personally?

How do I know him?

Do I trust him?

Do I love him in all sincerity, or is it for what I can get?

These are questions that might challenge us all as children of God.

Our challenge for the rest of the year is to look to God and establish a deep relationship with him.

For The Moment…119

The summer is ending, and it is back to school time. Change is something that can not be stopped.

Change happens in every aspect of life. Sometimes it is hard to accept newness or the difference of things, but if I want to continue to exist in this diverse world, I am learning I have to accept things and try to make them my own.

God helps me with this. I sometimes have not sown the seeds of change, and my harvest is, at times, not what I want, but God sees me through. He can change things to work out for my blessing.

All he asks is for me to believe and trust in him.

I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from there comes my help. Adapted from Psalm 121 verse 1.

Security In God

Yet To Be# 265

I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope.

As I put the Lord first in my life, he becomes my guide. Therefore, am I confident and secure in Him and in His loving kindness.

Psalm 16 verse 8 and Acts 2 verse 26.

The Easter Egg story

Why the egg at Easter?

Ever wonder what the story is behind the Easter egg?  Why use the egg?  Is it something to do with the Christian faith or the Jewish faith?  Is it a religious symbol at all?  And what’s this about Easter as being Christian or pagan?

I grew curious so I asked my co-workers, clients, friends and family and none of them had much of a clue as to the meaning behind the egg at Easter or otherwise known as the paschal egg.  The word paschal relates to Easter or it relates to Jewish Passover.

Historically, the egg was used by ancient cultures in Egypt, Mesopotamia and Crete.

this egg was painted in Punic a language known by the ancient people of Carthage.  The tradition of painting eggs goes back to Africa some 60,000 years ago.  It was a symbol of death and rebirth

The early Christians of Mesopotamia painted eggs red as they remember Jesus Christ in his death, burial and resurrection. The egg was seen as the tomb in which he was laid and where he rose, the red colour symbolized the blood he shed on the cross.  The egg is used at the time of Easter as a memorial within the Christian faith.

Non Christians use the Easter bunny as a symbol of rebirth with regards to the coming of the Spring season.
