The names of the true and living God

The God of the Old Testament Bible is strong and powerful.

The Creator.

The One true and living God.

His character is all holy and perfect.

Omnipotence: God is all-powerful.

“Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory and the majesty.” 1 Chronicle 29 verse 11. “The Lord the Creator of the ends of the earth faints not.” Isaiah 40 verse 28. “Who laid the foundations of the earth that it should not be removed forever.” Psalm 104 verse 5.

“Can anyone teach God knowledge?” Job 21 verse 22. “Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God.” Romans 11 verse 33.

Omnipresence: God is everywhere at all times.

“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have built?” 1 Kings 8 verse 27.

“Am I a God at hand saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? Can any hide in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth?” Jeremiah 23 verse 23 and 24.

He cannot deny himself

Trust in the Lord

The Park

Trust and don’t be afraid.

He promised to always be there, never to leave nor turn away.

Take his hand and he will guide.

Ask of him can he not provide?

When we call his name, he answers every cry.

The closer we are, the closer he stays.

He is touched by the beating of our hearts,

By the breathing of our spirit.

Captivated by the brightness of our souls, he looked upon us and his compassion was stirred.

Who is he that he should love us?

Who is he that he cannot deny himself?

He is master.

He is Lord.

He is God.

Trust in the Lord and lean not unto your own understanding. Proverbs 3 verse 3

The intimacies of His character are ofttimes lost within our psyche.

#24 of 31 Give me a blessing…

It will come. Hope is not now, but it is for the future.

“Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water.  And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether (lower) springs.” Joshua 15 verse 19

When our hope is fueled by faith we are drawn to ask with all boldness.

Then, why is there hesitation?

Because of unbelief?

Do we measure Him by our own strength?

Do we understand or even truly know Him?

Or surely, we know only of Him.

The intimacies of His character are ofttimes lost within our psyche.

We reach out in our learning to understand how the Creator called the things that are not into being.

How He hung the stars in the heavens and divided the land from the seas.

And how this same God could entreat us to ask of Him, but not just so;

But to ask with purpose, strength of faith and to stagger not with unbelief;

Believing in hope against hope, else if we ask doubting or ask amiss, we may receive nothing.

If only we ask.

God of the impossible

And Jesus saith…”with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Mark 10 verse 27

God is the God of the impossible.  He is the creator, all things belong to Him.  (Vicissitudes of Life, 2007)

sent his only son to become our Savior

Holiness

In the New Testament of the Bible, holiness means to be set apart from the profane (the unholy) and refers to the beauty, purity and divine perfection of God.  God the Creator, who called the things that were not into being.  It is this same God, who in his great mercy loved us so much and could not deny Himself, sent his only son to become our Savior.  – adapted from the King James Version

God cannot tell a lie.

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”  Numbers 23:19 KJV

Comparisons can prove equality and inequality as well as attest to the similarities and differences between the superior and the inferior. “God is not a man, that he should lie,” is a subtle comparison upholding one fundamental truth; that the infinite God and Creator should never be equated to anyone, because He is holy.
