Thinking About Where I See Myself In Another Ten Years…

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

No one can predict the future. Most times, I have a hard time thinking about what I need to do in the next hour, let alone in ten years from now.

My times are not my own. I live in the presence of God. He is in control. Sure on a natural level, I need to make sure I have money for the future, so I put something up for retirement.

I make provisions for repairs and things I may need to succeed in my endeavors, but I do not rely on them. I rely on God. Things may go wrong. Health may fail. People my walk away, but God is there forever, and he is in control.

But I am human. I dream of a happy future where I am successful as a writer, and now I prep the stage for that. But my heart is not fixed on this because life gets in the way, and disappointment leads to frustration and anger.

I am flexible, and I go with the flow and make up another dream when the first does not pan out.

Happiness is…

What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

Five things that bring me happiness:

  • Waking up in the morning and seeing the sun rise on the horizon.
  • Praying to my Lord and asking for guidance for the day.
  • Ability to move. Being able to walk on my own without help from anyone. I’m not taking this simple act for granted.
  • Talking to my family and playing with my puppies. I love my puppies. Oh yes, and I love my family  too as long as they don’t drive my crazy.
  • Relaxing from a hard, long day. Taking a well-earned break so I can breathe.

Archery

Describe something you learned in high school.

Loved the sport the moment I held my first bow.

Tried it again not too long ago. Love it still.

Spending quality time with the Lord

Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

Morning, by morning, he wakes up my ear so I could hear his instructions.

Doing my personal devotions first thing before life takes over is a blessing.

Writing my thoughts is a challenge but so rewarding.

I enjoy spending my first waking minutes with the Lord giving thanks, praising him, and asking for guidance throughout the day.

My life isn’t perfect, but every day, I am learning that with God, all things are possible.

Walking…

What’s the most fun way to exercise?

It may not seem fun at first, but depending on where you walk, it can be refreshing for both the mind and the body.

Taking long, quiet walks in the neighborhood, looking at the gardens, or even strolling in a park is great. Just getting away from the routine of life is good.

Being able to move is a blessing all by itself. Some people have little or no mobility, so putting one foot in front of the other is a great achievement. This ability may not cure the world hungry or find the answer to solving the common cold, but it is a refreshing accomplishment for the body.

One of my other favorite fun exercises is salsa dancing. Moving my hips to music is so cool.

Book of Ecclesiastes

What book could you read over and over again?

Say that over and over again, and you get tongue tied.

It is a book in the Bible where most people overlook.

At first read, it may seem depressing, but as you continue, the words open up and speak of life and how life lives.

To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

Every time I read a chapter, it holds a new meaning to me. I begin to think about life and how I live it before God.

It is my ancient self-help book.

It is a book of wisdom and how to trust in God.

Companion

What job would you do for free?

There are so many people out there who are lonely. It does not matter their age. Young or elderly being lonely can be a state of mind, but it is also a condition for some that will not change.

A smile or a kind word does not cost anything. Calling someone up on the phone or visiting someone for even a few minutes can make a sad day a blessing.

Blessings are not only for the receiver but for the giver as well.

Take time for someone else and see where that short moment will take you.

Synchronize swimming

What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

I think it is so graceful and beautiful to watch. Every move is calculated and perfect.

I tried that type of swimming in high school, and it is not easy.

You have to be able to hold your breath for long periods of time and move with a fluidity that could only come with practice.

It is amazing.

What is my community?

How would you improve your community?

A place where I live and those who dwell there with me.

I try to give to those in need. Helping those who are hungry by giving to the local food bank.

I pray for my neighbors even when they have no faith and they do not know my name.

I volunteer to help at conferences in the kitchen, or I donate food for the gathering.

I don’t broadcast my deeds because I don’t want the praise. It is not being humble it is who I am.

I give thanks

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

The first thing I do is thank the Lord for another day.

Then, if you must know, I relieve myself of stuff. That is private.

First forty five minutes, I pray and read the Bible. I spend time with the Lord. I ask for his guidance with my decisions and my behavior. I also ask for protection for my family and myself throughout the day. I write my thoughts down in my blog, and then I prep for my day.

Sometimes I don’t publish my thoughts but I write them nevertheless.
