Do you only pray to get something?

Sometimes, it is good to pray for giving thanks sake. We don’t have to ask to receive. We can also give him praise because of what he has done but also for who he is. Or we can give thanks because of what he means to us.

Prayer is our way of talking to God. We should make the most of it.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song will i praise him.Psalm 28 verse 7.

For The Moment…106

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks forever; we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. Psalm 79 verse 13.

We have a privilege to call on the name of the Lord at all times, not just to make requests but also to praise him and to give thanks.

Thanks giving is forgotten when we have needs. We look to him for help so easily, and yet to thank him, we have to have a reference point.

How selfish are we to put our needs forward everytimewe approach him.

For a moment, take time to give the Lord a word of praise and thank him not just for what he has done but because he is God and worthy to be praised.

For The Moment…34

Praise in the midst of mourning.

I will give thanks unto thee, oh Lord.

To the end, my glory will praise thee for thou turned my mourning into dancing.

When I looked, I saw that weeping only lasted for the night because Joy came in the morning.

( Adapted from Psalm 30)

For The Moment…23

His mercy endures forever.

God delivered me from mine enemies: yes, he lifted me up above those that rise up against me. Therefore, will I give thanks unto the Lord and sing praises to his name.

He is an all forgiving God. His mercy endures forever. ( adapted from Psalm 18 verses 48 and 49, Psalm 118 and Psalm 136 verses 1 to 9.

Prayer Warrior Gives Thanks.

The Thankful Poor by Henry Ossawa Tanner.

Yet To Be #135

The Thankful Poor – 1894

In the picture above, Henry Ossawa Tanner depicts a elderly man and a young boy sitting with heads bowed.  The room is simple, the table is sparse with little if any food, yet these warriors of prayer are thankful for even the little they have.

A warrior prays, believes, and gives thanks as if it is already received.
Accepting in all certainty that God is faithful.
We trust Him for guidance when we cannot see what lies ahead.
Not knowing what will be but believing it will work out for our good.
Then in all absolute confidence, we can give thanks.

Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise they glorious name. 1 Chronicles 29:13
